Some companies \u2013 like Dribbble, Buffer, and many others \u2013 have operated under remote-first work cultures for years\u2026 well before the COVID19 pandemic. But the pandemic led to many other companies being thrust into remote-work whether they liked it or not.<\/p>\r\n<p>Some companies liked it. Just yesterday,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/04\/28\/tech\/airbnb-return-to-office-update\/index.html\">it was reported that Airbnb is allowing their employees to work from home (or wherever they\u2019d like throughout the world) permanently<\/a>. They can work from Airbnb\u2019s office if they\u2019d like. And there would still be regular in-person interactions planned throughout the year. But Co-Founder and CEO, Brain Chesky, said that it\u2019s been Airbnb\u2019s most productive 2-years ever since their remote-first experiment started.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Then again, others aren\u2019t so ready to adopt that approach.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itechpost.com\/articles\/109424\/20220305\/more-tech-employees-return-offce-%E2%80%94-what-happens-next.htm\">Netflix\u2019s Reed Hastings has been completely against the idea<\/a>\u00a0of anything but an in-the-office work environment. Apparently he did not see the same type of productivity boost that Chesky from Airbnb saw.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>For most tech companies, it seems to fall somewhere in the middle. Most are still maintaining offices \u2013 but they\u2019re leaving it up to employees as for whether they want to work in that dedicated workspace\u2026 or from home. And it seems like this type of choice may be important. After all, good talent is hard to come by (especially these days) \u2013 and recently, it was reported that almost<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox2detroit.com\/news\/64-of-employees-would-rather-quit-their-jobs-than-return-to-the-office-full-time-survey-finds\">\u00a0\u2154 of employees would consider quitting their jobs<\/a>\u00a0before being forced to return to an all in-person work environment.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>So what do you think?
